Arts Alive
Did you know that in the Eurobodalla Shire live over 300 artists? A combination of writers, painters, cartoonists, poets, potters, weavers, spinners, sculptors, drawers, musicians, dancers, actors, glass-artists, leather workers, wood workers, print-makers, calligraphers, screen-printers, stone masons, graphic designers, needle workers, jewellers, gold and silversmiths, quilters, embroiderers, textile artists, basket-weavers and cabinet makers to mention just some? Recently, at Art Central the very first ever art classes were begun and Adventures in Art, Sculpture and Pottery were enjoyed immensely by all who attended. Its not too late to join in so ring Eurobodalla Adult Education Centre on 4472 9202 or Art Central on 4474 3123 if you're interested. Lisette Wentholt, Hon. Manager Art Central 22 August 2004
Congratulations to David Cowley, the man who is enthusiastically promoting local artists and their work
on his business directory website, www.eurobodallabiz.com.au
At the Bateman’s Bay Business Awards last Saturday night ( 30 October) David won the Award for ‘Best New Business’, very well deserved it is too! David offers Artists on the Far South Coast a free web page to market themselves and their work through business sponsorship.
Artists don't have to jump through any hoops to do this - David will get the business sponsorship. This is a community development approach, and allows both the artist and the business to benefit through the promotion. A very smart move! He can be contacted on Ph 4472 1121 or dwc@eurobodallabiz.com.au

The aim of EurobodallaBiz is to build a 'quick-reference data base' of artists from Milton & Ulladulla (Shoalhaven), the Eurobodalla, and Sapphire coast (the last is known also as the Bega Valley).
South Coast and Far South Coast artists will then be promoted as a group to the world at large, since marketing strategies for local artists has been lacking.
So far most local artists, slow to see the potential of Internet promotion, have a priori 'drawn the line' against promoting themselves.
Art, like morality, consists of drawing the
line somewhere. |
