Welcome to a truly magnificent part of south eastern New South Wales, Australia, where the spectacular Eurobodalla (Koori word for 'Land of Many Waters') stirs and beckons the human spirit by its unique natural beauty.   Little wonder that the Eurobodalla is known also as the 'Nature Coast.'

The Eurobodalla is the place of sun, sand, surf, and ocean breeze; of forested mountain catchments, of pristine waterways; of national parks, and state forests (75% of the area is national park or state forest)..

The Eurobodalla, with a population about 35 000, covers an area of 3 430 sq. kms., extending along the East Coast from East Lynne and Durras in the North to Wallaga Lake near Narooma in the South; and includes, in between, the highway coastal towns of Batemans Bay, Mogo, Moruya, Bodalla, Narooma and Tilba Tilba.  The area is bounded in the West by the Budawang, Deua, and Wadbilliga national parks.  Major rivers include the Clyde, Moruya, and Tuross (see regional map).

The Eurobodalla comprises: the Northern District - Batemans Bay to Tomakin; the Central District -  Broulee, Moruya, Tuross Head; and, the Southern District - Bodalla, Dalmeny, and Narooma

The Eurobodalla region is sandwiched between the Shoalhaven to the north, and Bega Valley to the south.  The driving time from Canberra to the Eurobodalla is about 2 hours (150 kms); from Sydney about 3.5 hours (280 kms); and, from Melbourne about 8 hours (770 kms).  The Eurobodalla is and area about 101 km long and 40 km wide.  It is part of the Australian Capital Region.

Batemans Bay, the major town, is set to become aEurobodalla Nature Coast Bimberamala River regional centre for both commerce and tourism; Moruya, the administrative centre, is about 27 km south of Batemans Bay; and, Narooma is about 42 km south of Moruya.

Being the closest coastal town to Canberra - Batemans Bay, on the mouth of the spectacular Clyde River, gets lots of visitors as the crayfish and oysters don't get any better elsewhere!  Average temperatures are around 25c during summer and 18c during winter.

We shall never understand the natural environment until we see it as a living organism. Land can be healthy or sick, fertile or barren, rich or poor, lovingly nurtured or bled white. Our present attitudes and laws governing the ownership and use of land represent an abuse of the concept of private property.... Today you can murder land for private profit. You can leave the corpse for all to see and nobody calls the cops.
Paul Brooks, The Pursuit of Wilderness (1971)

fun with 4x4vehicles

Why did we start the Eurobodalla 4 WD Club?

As there was no 4WD club in the Eurobodalla, we found the need to get together a group of 4WD owners in the Eurobodalla so that we might help one another pursue common vehicle and recreation interests in the outdoors, such as touring, camping, driver training, and remote area trips.

Moreover, everyone understands the urgent need to protect and preserve all natural areas.  We are about sustainable four wheel drive recreation!

When did the Group start?

The Eurobodalla 4WD club was founded on 9 December 2003, and became an incorporated  non-profit organisation on 12 February 2004.

What is the purpose of the Eurobodalla 4WD Club?

The chance for people to share a common interest in practical 4WD situations 'off the bitumen'

The opportunity to meet with other people of similar interests and varying levels of experience and ability in eg. camping, 4 wheel driving, trip planning and preparation, eco-education, and driver training.

To provide opportunities for regular social activities, meeting new friends, and the enjoyment of 4WD group activities in the more remote areas.

What are the standards of the Group?

Eurobodalla 4WD Club will be affiliated with 4WD NSW & ACT, and  we adopt the Four Wheel Drivers' Code of Ethics.

What are the levels of Membership?

  1. Full Membership ie., individual or family ownership of a registered 4 WD vehicle.
  2. A form of Associate Membership eg., for people who do not own a 4WD vehicle, yet want to join in Club activities, will be examined by the Management Committee.
