ThermTek Industries

coating steel under bar racking, cold room shelves and glass trays (baskets) for the club and hotel industries for over 8 years, using an organically produced thermal nylon (from the Castor Oil plant Ricinus communis) that is environmentally friendly.

The exceptionally resilient coating on the treated trays ensures that they last up to      3 times longer than the conventional galvanized or plastic coated trays.

Thermtek utilises the economic and environmental advantages of the Rilsan® fine powders, for high performance coatings. Rilsan® Nylon 11 Polyamide powder is positively different from other polyamides.

Advantages of the Rilsan® fine powders, for high performance coatings

Ø       relatively low melting points (186° C) allow superior coating speeds compared to other thermoplastic or thermofusible powders;

Ø       granulometry and viscosity are specially developed so that the material, in its molten form is sufficiently viscous so as not to drip, yet liquid enough to give good surface finish, good adhesion and covering, especially on corners;

Ø       the possibility of having a better finish by using water cooling immediately after the particles of powder have completely fused;

Ø       abrasion resistance Rilsan® is 500 to 600 times superior to the current best oven-baked paints;

Ø       high-impact resistance eg repeated impact on a steel ‘Relsanised’ tube (1.5mm in thickness) causes distortion in the tube without destroying the coating;

Ø       chemical resistance: Rilsan® resists eg. organic acids, salts, alkalis, solvents and hydrocarbons.

Rilsan® was one of the first powders to be developed for metal coating over 35 years ago.  Since then its applications have continued to diversify world-wide.  Today Rilsan® is one of the most versatile coatings on the market.

But one of numerous applications of
Rilsan® powder coating: the steel glass tray (basket)
